Miles Bench – white, age 20
Sentenced to death in Stephens County, Oklahoma

Date of crime: 6/6/12
Prosecution’s case/defense response: Bench worked at a Tee Pee Totem store and Braylee Henry walked in to the store where Bench attacked her. Bench did not know her, but attacked her because she entered the store alone. Henry’s body was found partially buried by Bench’s grandparents’ home. Testimony from teachers and babysitters was presented regarding Bench’s polite and respectful personality.

Darrell Frederick– black, age 56
Sentenced to death in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma

Date of crime: 3/26/11
Prosecution’s case/defense response: Frederick beat his 87-year-old deaf mother, Connie Frederick, with a brick after getting into an argument. Connie was rushed to the hospital and died on April 30, 2011. Evidence of Frederick’s prior convictions including robbery and burglary as well as being acquitted of an assault was presented in court. Evidence of Frederick’s acquittal of a first-degree murder charge was not allowed.

Isaiah Tyron – black, age 22
Sentenced to death in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma

Date of crime: 3/16/12
Prosecution’s case/defense response: Tyron repeatedly stabbed Tia Bloomer, 19 years old, inside a bus station with many witnesses. Bloomer was the mother of Tryon’s child and he stabbed her because she was on her way to file a protective order against him. Tyron is a known gang member, who was on probation at the time of the stabbing. The defense tried to plead for no death sentence by presenting testimony to show that Tyron had a misguided childhood filled with crack cocaine addicted parents and abusive or neglectful parents.
