Caleb Carrothers – Black, age 27

Sentenced in Lafayette County, Mississippi
By: a judge upon jury recommendation
Date of crime: July, 2009
Victims: Frank Clark, Taylor Clark
Prosecution’s case/defense response: Carrothers shot three victims (father, mother, and son) and killed the father and son during the armed robbery of their home.  The prosecution presented surviving witness testimony and video evidence of Carrothers guilt.  The defense argued that Carrothers was the product of a broken and unstable home, and character witnesses testified to his artistic side.  The prosecution countered mitigating factors by pointing out Carrothers four previous convictions for armed robbery including being paroled only about a month before committing this crime.
